Kind words

“What more could you ask for? Ed is a talented designer and artist. He is honest, hardworking and kind. His work consistently exceeds expectations. I can’t wait to work with him again on our next project.”

Ann Kiefert, Assistant Director of Marketing
Appalachian State University

“Ed’s work with the [Summer Reading] materials sub-committee was always outstanding and essential to our success. His designs were eye-catching and his sense of audience was always spot on. Much of the success of our efforts to communicate the changing focus of our program from year-to-year can be traced to Ed’s influence working with the committee and to his sharp design talents.”

Emory Maiden, Former Director, Summer Reading Program
Appalachian State University

“Working closely with Ed on the Summer Reading Program visuals here at Appalachian has been one of the pleasures of my life. Because of Ed’s personality, humor and genius for visual communication I have had an exceptional learning experience and have developed a treasured friendship.”

Gary Nemcosky, Professor, Department of Art
Appalachian State University

“I have enjoyed working with Ed for more than five years while he has been at Appalachian State University and his experience, knowledge, and accuracy with the design work for ASU’s Undergraduate Bulletin has been exceptional and extremely professional. Ed designed our catalog so that it could be published exclusively online which resulted in an enormous savings to the University and to the environment because we went from printing 40,000 copies of a 350 page document to our current online version that is searchable and user-friendly. His work ethic and willingness to help and work with others to teach and design is exciting, not only for him, but for those of us who have had the privilege of working with Ed and I am thankful that I have had that opportunity myself!”

Lesa Felker, Academic Affairs
Appalachian State University

“Ed did a great job on the redesign of Appalachian Journal! He listens well and delighted me by showing me samples of what I tried to describe but had no idea how to create. Working with Ed was a wonderful experience.”

Sandy Ballard, Editor, Appalachian Journal

“Ed is a very knowledgeable and talented graphic artist, and I have always enjoyed working with him. He is a true asset to any project.”

Sarah McBryde, Advertising Manager, Arts and Cultural Affairs
Appalachian State University

In 2011, the Diversity Celebration publicity committee struggled to find a way to connect with Appalachian employees who had never shown an interest in attending the annual event. Using our existing photos and graphic images, Ed created a series of emails for us to send over a four-week period to faculty and staff. Staff attendance at [that] year's event was substantially greater than it had ever been before. The 2011 Diversity Celebration boasted the highest attendance in the event’s ten-year history – well over 3,500 people – and I am convinced Ed’s creative force was behind a great deal of it.”

Susan King, Office of Equity, Diversity and Compliance
Appalachian State University

“Ed’s more than a designer; he’s an invaluable member of our editorial team.”
